The complete visa exemption list now includes 26 countries: the 13 extended exemption nations plus Brunei, Myanmar, Philippines, Cambodia, Indonesia, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Chile, Panama, and Kazakhstan. Citizens from these countries enter Vietnam visa-free for specified periods.
E-Visa Entry Points
The e-visa system functions at 42 international border gates including 13 airports, 16 land crossings, and 13 seaports. Major airports include Noi Bai (Hanoi), Tan Son Nhat (Ho Chi Minh City), Da Nang, Cam Ranh, Cat Bi, Phu Quoc, and Can Tho ensuring convenient access across Vietnam.
Land border crossings operate at Mong Cai, Huu Nghi, Lao Cai, Cau Treo, Cha Lo, Lao Bao, Moc Bai, and Ha Tien among others. These gates connect Vietnam with China, Laos, and Cambodia facilitating overland travel.
Seaports accepting e-visas include Hon Gai, Hai Phong, Da Nang, Nha Trang, Vung Tau, Ho Chi Minh City, and Duong Dong serving cruise passengers and maritime arrivals.
Application Process
Apply for Vietnam e-visas online through the official Vietnam Immigration Department website. The straightforward process requires passport scans, digital photos, and credit card payments. Processing typically takes 3-7 business days.
Approved e-visas arrive via email containing confirmation codes. Print the e-visa presenting it at immigration counters upon arrival. Some travelers access digital copies through the official immigration website though printed versions remain safest.
