Sun-drenched beaches, ancient Cham towers, therapeutic mud baths, and vibrant nightlife make Nha Trang Vietnam's ultimate coastal escape.

Nha Trang

Spend a Day on Tran Phu Beach

Tran Phu is the main event. This long, wide beach curves along the western edge of Nha Trang Bay. The water is calm and clear, and a steady sea breeze takes the edge off the heat. Mornings are the liveliest, with locals exercising at the water’s edge before the sun climbs too high. Sun loungers, beach cafes, and watersports are all available along the strip. For something quieter, Bai Dai Beach to the north offers miles of uncrowded shoreline just a short ride away.

Go Island Hopping Around the Bay

Nha Trang Bay is dotted with 19 islands. A day trip out to the best of them is one of the highlights of any visit. Hon Mun is Vietnam’s only protected marine reserve and the top spot for snorkelling and diving. Hon Tam offers white sand and clear shallow water perfect for swimming. Most island boat tours depart from Cau Da Pier. They include multiple stops, a fresh seafood lunch on the water, and plenty of time to snorkel the reefs.

Dive or Snorkel the Reefs

Nha Trang is one of the best diving destinations in Vietnam. The water is warm and clear, and the coral reefs are healthy and well-protected. Visibility is at its best between April and August, when conditions are calm and the underwater world is at its most vivid. Several well-established dive operators offer everything from beginner discovery dives to advanced PADI courses. Snorkelling is equally rewarding and requires no prior experience.

Soak in the Mud Baths

Nha Trang’s mud baths are unlike anything else in Vietnam. The mineral-rich clay is drawn from the hills north of the city and is said to have therapeutic benefits for the skin. I-Resort is the most popular facility. It combines mud pools with hot mineral springs, cool waterfalls, and a water park. It makes for a relaxed and enjoyable half-day out, popular with families and couples alike.

Explore the Po Nagar Cham Towers

The Po Nagar Cham Towers sit on a hilltop above the Cai River, just north of the city centre. Built between the 7th and 12th centuries, the four remaining towers blend Hindu, Buddhist, and Islamic influences into a striking ensemble. They are among the oldest and most important Cham religious sites in Vietnam. The largest tower is dedicated to the goddess Po Nagar and remains an active place of worship visited daily by local families.

Experience the Nightlife

When the sun goes down, Nha Trang comes alive. Sailing Club is a legendary beachfront venue that has anchored the city’s nightlife for over two decades. It hosts regular beach parties and live music throughout the week. Skylight, on the 43rd floor of the Havana Hotel, offers sweeping 360-degree views of the bay alongside cocktails and international DJs. The scene here is energetic and very much alive on any night of the week.

Nha Trang is one of Vietnam’s most reliably sunny destinations. The dry season runs from January to August. February to May offers the most comfortable temperatures for beaches and sightseeing. April to August is the peak season for diving, with the clearest water and best visibility. The rainy season runs from September to December. However, storms here are generally less severe than in central Vietnam. Even during wet months, sunshine is never far away.

Cam Ranh International Airport sits around 35 kilometres south of the city. It receives direct flights from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, and several international destinations. Nha Trang also sits on the main North-South railway line. This makes the train a scenic and comfortable option from both directions. Buses connect the city to Da Lat, Hoi An, and Ho Chi Minh City daily. Once in the city, taxis and Grab are the most convenient options. Motorbike rentals are widely available for those wanting to explore independently.
